A visit of the Chinese delegation from the Shandong Computer Science Center, Jinan, China

We had the pleasure to welcome three Chinese academics from the Shandong Computer Science Center, Jinan, Shandong, China.

 

China focus a lot on optimisation of its infrastructure. iExec will be a key player on this specific market. The Shandong delegation is part of a wide network of Chinese academics.

 

 

Introduction of Shandong Computer Science Center (SCSC)

The SCSC was founded in 1976, which is the first non-profit institute in Shandong Province specializing in R&D of information technologies. Adhering to the principle of “science and technology should serve society and economic construction”, we focus on high-performance computing, cloud computing, information security and other IT related fields, and provide public technologies and services for the government and enterprises. Up to present, the SCSC has developed into a leadership in the field of information technology research and development in Shandong Province. Three scientific research platforms are contained in the center, which are National Supercomputer Center in Jinan, Shandong Cloud Computing Center and Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Computer Networks.

National SuperComputer Center in Jinan

National SuperComputer Center in Jinan (referred as NSCC-JN) is one of the six Petaflops supercomputer centers in China, and it has a one Petaflops super computer named Sunway Bluelight, which has three characteristics: domestic CPU, high density and water-cooling technology.

The NSCC-JN offers Computing and Technique Consulting services for many application areas, including: Marine Science, Oil and Gas Exploration, Climate and Weather, Drug Screening, Financial Risk Analysis, Information Security, Electromagnetic Computing and so on.

Research Fields

Parallel Computing and Parallel Optimization, including: Parallel programming models and runtime systems, Job scheduling and resource management, Parallel I/O for traditional HPC Applications and Big Data Applications, Fault tolerance, Operation and Maintain for Supercomputer

Electromagnetic Computing, including: Precise Geometric Modeling, Parallel Algorithms, Data Visualization

General Post-Processing and Data Visualization Tool, including: Data Visualization Architecture, Abstraction on Visualization Algorithms, and Implementation on Visualization Algorithms.

Research Achievements

SCSC have tuned most of the frequently used open-source HPC applications to Sunway Blue Light super computer, and summarize the standard for tuning code from one platform to another.

SCSC has provided computing services and consultation services to over 600 users, and help the users to do research, develop industry.

SCSC does deep research on Electromagnetic Computing, and we focus on Theory, Precise Geometric Modeling and Representative Algorithms on Electromagnetic Computing, Parallel Software Architecture and Visualization on Electromagnetic Data, and they developed complex electromagnetic environment simulation software which is used in military and civil electromagnetic related fields.

About Dr. Wang

Dr. Lianhai Wang is currently a research professor with Shandong Computer Science Center (National Supercomputer Center in Jinan), China. He is also director of Shandong Computer Forensic Institute. He serves as the lead engineer of the Key Laboratory of Computer Network of Shandong Province, the secretary general of Shandong Blockchain Technology Application Innovation Center, and the secretary general of the cybersecurity expert committee in Shandong Computer Federation. He received the Ph.D. degree in computer science from Shandong University. His current research interests include computer forensics, blockchain technology, information security, and network performance evaluation.

Dr. Wang is named the Distinguished Young and Middle-aged Experts of Shandong Province and was elected as the Outstanding Academic Researcher of Shandong Province. He has authored more than 50 papers on information security and has been awarded more than 10 patents. He has been funded with more than 30 projects by NSF and NDRC of China, as well as the NSF of Shandong province. He has also received numerous awards including Science and Technology Progress Awards of Shandong Province, the Science and Technology Progress Award of Chinese Military, and Science and Technology Progress Awards of Ministry of National Security.
