Last year we prioritized amplifying the network effect within our ecosystem so that our community could unlock value from their digital assets. Today, our global network connects builders, users, community supporters, token holders, and partners.
Our efforts in advancing privacy-first products for builders and individuals, enhancing iExec’s technical performance, forging strategic partnerships, and driving adoption through mainstream campaigns marked 2024 as a year of innovation, growth, and collaboration.

In 2024, we focused on creating a strong foundation for a sustainable network effect, where every builder, partner, user, and token holder contributes and benefits from each other.
Every participant in the iExec ecosystem protects and leverages the value of digital assets. Thanks to iExec's versatility, digital assets can be anything digital that can be owned and generate value, from email addresses to computing power to entire applications.
In 2024 we launched 6 new partnerships, including collaborations with 4 accelerators: Graviton, Cube3, DecentralHouse, and H7. Additionally, we established 3 deal flow-sharing agreements with StormPartners, CV Labs, which will play a crucial role in expanding our builder’s ecosystem.
Thanks to the versatility of the iExec Dev Tools and our general protocol for confidential computing, our ecosystem spans multiple Web3 Verticals.
To enhance RLC's accessibility and integration, we've teamed up with Alchemy Pay, Coinbase Pay, for on-ramp services and Meld for widget implementation for access to RLC tokens directly on our site.
To enhance value for our community, iExec rolled out an incentive program allowing RLC token holders to yield farm via the RLC/USDC liquidity pool on Uniswap v3. This initiative enables holders to maximize the utility of their tokens by providing liquidity and the chance to earn trading fees and a portion of an additional 10,000 USDC distributed to pool participants.
iExec achieved significant marketing milestones in partnership with the Revolut platform, highlighting the growing recognition of the RLC token and iExec’s innovative technology. The collaboration began with a Learn & Earn campaign aimed at educating Revolut's 18 million users about RLC and the iExec ecosystem. This initiative quickly elevated the profile of RLC, which soared to #7 in Revolut’s Popularity Ranking due to the engagement of over 1.3 million participants from 87 countries.
Our collaboration with Intel reached new heights this year. The AI Model monetization solution, powered by iExec, was featured on Intel’s website as a showcase of cutting-edge Confidential Computing technology as part of the AI catalog. Moreover, iExec became a Gold Member of the Intel Partner Alliance, reinforcing our commitment to privacy-preserving solutions and cementing our role as a trusted partner in the Confidential Computing space. These milestones underscore iExec’s alignment with Intel’s vision for secure and innovative Web3 solutions.
Our work with NVIDIA began through the NVIDIA Inception Program, providing iExec with access to advanced GPU technology and expertise. This foundation has enabled us to empower builders with innovative tools on our platform. As confidential computing evolves, we're integrating NVIDIA's confidential GPUs to enhance our offerings alongside Intel TDX. This integration targets complex AI applications, specifically those requiring NVIDIA’s H100 GPUs for training extensive deep learning models, as emphasized at the Confidential Computing Summit. Additional details on our evolving partnership and plans with Intel TDX will be shared soon.
As a member of the Confidential Computing Consortium since 2019, iExec submitted Web3Mail as an official project to be showcased by the consortium under the SDK category. iExec also joined the outreach committee to help promote Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) technologies and drive awareness and adoption of confidential computing across industries.
iExec has been a trailblazer in decentralized confidential computing (DeCC) long before it became a trend. As a founding member of the DeCC Alliance, iExec advocated for privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs), especially TEE technologies. In 2024, we worked alongside various members of the alliance, contributing to its organization, international events, and the development of educational resources.
Another highlight of the year was the Grants Pitchday during Devcon, where we partnered with four foundations - iExec, Taïko, Polkadot, and Avalanche - to offer a total of $500,000 in grants. The event saw 260 applications from aspiring grantees. After thorough evaluation & 16 projects were pitched, resulting in 10 projects selected to receive funding, with each foundation supporting 3 projects. These grants have been instrumental in encouraging development and innovation on the iExec platform, further diversifying the applications and use cases it supports.
iExec collaborated with Oasis, co-hosting the 'Afternoon TEE Party,' which drew over 400 attendees. This gathering was a deep dive into iExec's privacy-preserving solutions and highlighted the transformative role of TEEs in blockchain security. The event featured a panel with experts from iExec, Oasis, Poetic Technologies, and Phala Network, focusing on critical topics such as DePIN, Data Privacy, and DeCC.
iExec partnered with Taikai to launch an online hackathon - the iExec iBuild Hackathon - showcased innovation from over 70 participants developing solutions using iExec's dev tools. Winners included StableSafe, a prediction market for stablecoin volatility, which took first place by utilizing iExec Oracle, Web3Mail, and DataProtector. AuthChain took second place with its blockchain-based two-factor authentication, leveraging iExec DataProtector and Web3Mail for increased security. Crypto Jua earned third place with its private, decentralized DeFi notification service using iExec Web3Mail and DataProtector.
iExec joined forces with Encode to host six boot camps all about iExec dev tools and privacy technologies. It was amazing to see 500+ developers join in and learn with us! On top of that, we partnered on a university hackathon, inspiring the next generation of Web3 builders to innovate with iExec privacy-first solutions.
We're exploring how to create a public worker pool by combining iExec's advanced technology with the vibrant DoraHacks community. It's an early-stage collaboration, but we're diving into how this partnership could empower developers and expand opportunities for decentralized computing.
ADAN, the Association for the Development of Digital Assets, advocates for the digital asset industry in France, acting as a crucial link between blockchain companies and regulators. iExec joined ADAN in 2020 as a founding member, along with 10 other blockchain firms in France. Throughout 2024, iExec actively participated in ADAN meetings, pushing for advancements in blockchain policy and innovation.
We partnered with Startinblock during Paris Blockchain Week through the Top 100 Startup Program, connecting early-stage projects with significant funding opportunities. This initiative offered more than $10 million in grants and funding to accelerate the growth of the Web3 ecosystem.
Our partnership with CV Labs enabled exposure to our developer ecosystem for projects within CV Labs’ incubation programs, promoting innovation in areas like Confidential AI and decentralized technologies. CV VC assists in connecting projects with potential investors, while CV Pad facilitates TGEs and public fundraising, accelerating the growth and adoption of iExec. This strategic alliance enhances our ability to support developers in creating privacy-first Web3 applications and decentralized AI solutions.
The iExec Privacy Pass successfully onboarded 40,000+ users and launched 10 partner campaigns, enabling individuals to monetize their email addresses securely to earn RLC. Built on two of iExec’s core developer tools, DataProtector and Web3Mail, the iExec Privacy Pass and its accompanying dashboard provide end users a new level of data control and monetization - receiving marketing or promotional emails without ever exposing their email addresses, thanks to the encryption and secure processing provided by Intel SGX hardware enclaves. The Privacy Pass enables users to fully own their data, and transform it into real, monetizable digital assets.
Looking ahead, our focus will remain on expanding user engagement and enhancing the dashboard's features to further streamline the user experience and broaden the scope of monetization opportunities with other types of digital assets beyond email addresses.
This past year, iExec received widespread recognition in the crypto and blockchain media, cementing its position as a leader in AI x Web3 innovation. A standout moment came with iExec’s inclusion in the 2024 Messari Crypto Forecast Report, where we were featured in the DePIN for AI section. The report explored how AI agents can leverage crypto infrastructure for payments, access to digital resources, and innovations like zkML to securely query AI models. Messari emphasized iExec’s role in enabling off-chain computing to support verifiable computation for AI, highlighting our contribution to the convergence of AI and blockchain.
iExec's leadership in AI and privacy has garnered attention from over 100 media outlets following the DataProtector upgrade and announcements of foundation partnerships.
iExec’s development efforts were also recognized, ranking #6 in Santiment’s development activity leaderboard for AI and Big Data-related crypto projects.
Also featured in media coverage were iExec's strategic collaborations with foundations like CV Labs, Avalanche Foundation and Polkadot, emphasizing its role in DeCC and AI.
We’ve also made substantial gains in terms of our SEO strategy efforts which are key for AI and DePIN to positioning, floating around 10th place globally in search engine rankings for Confidential AI.
In 2024, iExec's marketing campaigns on the Galxe platform saw substantial growth, and reached 49,000 followers by December, with our most successful quest reaching 93,000 participants. We also launched a quest on QuestN that reached 47,000 participants. We continued influencer and ad campaigns on YouTube to enhance our promotional reach.
In 2024, iExec organized 19 events in Europe and Asia, including in-person and online hackathons, meetups, bootcamps, summits, and workshops. These events played a crucial role in community engagement and development support, as evidenced by the 540 new builders in the iExec dev funnel who are exploring creating innovative applications using iExec tools.
Feedback from these events also served to enrich our technical documentation. These events showcased technological innovations, strengthened community ties, and pushed the dialogue at the nexus of Web3n Confidential Computing, and AI. Some of the highlights include:
In-person hackathons included ETH Naples, ETH Rome, ETHSofia, and a Hacker House at ETHCC and the iBuild Online Hackathon. The workshops gave developer communities a chance to dive into iExec's developer tools and get some hands-on experience while learning about TEEs.
At the Encode Bootcamp and workshops, the R&D and DevRel teams teamed up to share detailed insights into TEEs and iExec technology, making it easier for developers to explore and start using these tools.
We hosted three Dapp Hero meetups with Kryptosphere, DeFi France, and Synaps, featuring speakers from Lido, TalentLayer, and JSE Capital. The iExec Meetup with OpenZeppelin focused on Web3 trends, while the Web3 Incubator Demo Day at H7 Lyon showcased projects like AiAleno, Boonty, and TalentLayer, opening sign-ups for the next season.
iExec drove the conversation on privacy and decentralized computing at key conferences. The World AI Cannes Festival and Confidential Computing Summit spotlighted TEEs and Confidential AI.
Other highlights included Kryptotour Lyon, where iExec was the main sponsor, and Paris Blockchain Week Summit, and participation at the World of Web3 Summit Hong Kong, NFT NYC, and Token 2049 Singapore, where the team engaged in key panels, partnerships and community-building activities.
In 2024, iExec introduced the iExec Voucher in a closed beta with our existing builders to streamline development costs and enhance the circulation of RLC. The iExec Voucher offers fixed pricing for better cost predictability, specialized TEE tech guidance, and comprehensive builder mentorship. This ensures a smooth development journey from ideation to market. The voucher streamline the way developers interact with Web3 protocols, which underscores iExec's commitment to enhancing the utility of RLC within the ecosystem.
This year, iExec introduced the upgraded iExec DataProtector dev tool with the new DataProtectorSharing module. This update allows developers to create applications that give users full control over their data ownership, sharing, and monetization, with transactions automated via smart contracts and facilitated by the RLC token. The module enhances existing functionalities by adding secure data sharing and monetization options, which are supported by robust security measures like Intel SGX and end-to-end encryption.
iExec launched the Content Creator Demo App to showcase the upgraded iExec DataProtector capabilities. This decentralized app serves as both a template for developers and an example of how the DataProtectorSharing module empowers content creators. It allows creators to securely upload content, manage sharing options, and choose monetization strategies - renting, selling, or subscriptions - while maintaining full ownership of their digital assets. All transactions are transparently facilitated using RLC.
Throughout 2024, iExec made significant enhancements to the Secret Management Service (SMS) and worker pool scalability, reducing incidents by a factor of 3 resulting in decreasing a Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), thus maintaining platform availability above 99%.
These platform stability and recovery speed improvements set the stage for further enhancements expected early next year.
The year began with critical upgrades to the SMS (Secret Management Service) for both debug and development environments, following a major upgrade to the production SMS in late 2023. These upgrades boosted SMS performance, facilitated seamless migrations, and eliminated restart-induced data losses (although they necessitated updates to dApps), republishing of secrets, and encryption key refreshes due to the reduced security level in debug environments.
Further improvements included the rollout of iExec Stack v8.3 and v8.5, which brought technical enhancements like admin backup and restore capabilities, bug fixes, and performance optimizations, including updates to Spring Boot and JVM. The introduction of Scone v5.8.8 further enhanced the resilience and stability of the SMS. Additionally, a minor update to iExec PoCo introduced new deal sponsorship features and updated module compatibility to Solidity 0.8, expanding development possibilities without requiring community action.
The evolution of our Public Workerpools reflects our commitment to pioneering solutions that prioritize both confidentiality and decentralization. As the demand for secure, decentralized infrastructure grows, particularly for AI and data-driven applications, iExec is strategically aligning with DePIN and DeCC narratives.
We identified different possible models for decentralizing computing power within our ecosystem. We’ve evaluated each one for varying levels of decentralization, the involvement of external partners, their value for the community, and their alignment with our vision for privacy-first computing to find the optimal balance between confidentiality and decentralization.
The Worker Pass demonstrated a highly decentralized model, allowing community members to contribute computing power and earn RLC without requiring TEEs. Building on this, we’ve explored with potential partners a Workerpool Model with TEE capabilities as confidential computing requires a more specialized infrastructure. With this approach, external entities manage their Workerpools while adhering to iExec’s governance and Confidential Computing standards.
Our ultimate goal is a Fully External Model, where partners independently operate decentralized, privacy-first Workerpools using TEEs to ensure data remains secure. By aligning these models with DeCC principles, iExec aims to create scalable solutions that prioritize privacy, ownership, and monetization in a decentralized ecosystem.
Last year, the iExec Research team made significant strides in advancing Confidential Computing and sharing their expertise with the broader community. In the article “From Confidential Computing to Confidential AI,” we explored the evolution of secure computing principles to address the challenges of artificial intelligence. Additionally, two scientific articles were: “SGX-based Key-Value Stores: A Survey,” recently published, and “TruShare: Trusted Secret Sharing-based Key-Value Store,” accepted for publication and scheduled for a detailed article in Q1 2025. These lay the ground for important evolutions of our TEE services that will benefit our builders and the whole iExec ecosystem.
The team also actively engaged with global audiences through prestigious events. At the World Artificial Intelligence Cannes Festival (WAICF) and the Confidential Computing Summit in San Francisco, iExec showcased breakthroughs in AI and secure computing. The 3rd RedChainLab Workshop brought experts together to discuss Web3 advancements, while a presentation at CCF CCBC shared insights into how iExec will benefit from Intel’s Trusted Domain Extensions (TDX). On the DeCC front, iExec joined a podcast with OASIS, furthering conversations about the future of secure and decentralized technologies.
Artificial intelligence has always been part of iExec, we’re not just jumping on a trend. “AiExec” is the reflection of our natural synergy with AI.
As early as 2019, after first presenting its vision for integrating AI with blockchain at the EU Commission in Brussels, iExec highlighted the transformative potential of blockchain and confidential computing for AI. Later in 2019, GPU integration was achieved, alongside some early AI dapps. In 2020, we joined Intel’s AI Builders Program, now the Intel Partner Alliance, further cementing our presence in the AI ecosystem. By 2024, iExec's contributions earned a feature in Intel's 2024 AI Inference Catalogue with iExec solution for confidential data processing in healthcare. Our engineering team is driving a transformative effort this year to scale our protocol throughput by 10x, enabling iExec to support more builders and expand our capabilities for AI-driven use cases. This scaling effort is a critical step in ensuring that iExec’s DePin approach remains a powerful, reliable foundation for cutting-edge decentralized computing particularly in AI.
At the protocol level, we are refining our core mechanisms to improve efficiency and scalability while, at the infrastructure level, we are implementing advanced scaling strategies to support the platform's growth.
We are actively researching and experimenting with solutions that will shape the future of Bellecour, the iExec’s sidechain. We are focusing on delivering superior scalability, performance, interoperability, and composability with other ecosystems to deliver the best onboarding for builders. As technical solutions are moving fast, 2025 will serve to explore the next generation of the iExec sidechain.
iExec is leveraging a longstanding commitment to artificial intelligence that started in 2018 with AI proofs of concept and GPU integrations. Our involvement in Intel's AI Builders program and recent developments under the AI & LLM Study initiative. The strategic use of Intel's TDX technology and the GPU TEEs workerpools collaborations will amplify iExec’s AI capabilities and respond to our AI builder's needs.
Building on the Privacy Pass capabilities with confidential emailing, we’ll allow end users to protect additional digital asset types amplifying the adoption of iExec by a mainstream audience. The new version of the Privacy Pass will expand the potential of digital assets that can be used securely and privately by builder-decentralized applications enhancing a real network effect between end users and builders.
This evolution will strengthen our privacy-preserving ecosystem where data and digital assets are leveraged responsibly, unlocking new opportunities for the entire ecosystem.
