iExec moves forward collaboration with Intel and Alibaba Cloud at RSA Conference 2019

iExec was invited by Intel to attend RSA Conference USA 2019 and moved forward their collaboration with Intel and Alibaba Cloud.

RSA conference, the world’s leading information security event, aims to encourage collaboration within the industry to continue to find security solutions for current cyber threats. iExec was invited to the RSA conference by Intel, who showcased several new product release and partner adoption announcements.

Among those invited by Intel, was Alibaba Cloud. The collaboration between Alibaba Cloud and iExec was covered in a talk by Xiaoning LI, Chief Security Architect at Alibaba Cloud. iExec is building a blockchain-based marketplace for trading cloud computing resources. On this Marketplace, Alibaba Cloud now provides Encrypted Computing, powered by Intel® SGX, to support the iExec Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) solution. This iExec TEE solution provides end-to-end protection of data for blockchain-based computing.

On the Marketplace, iExec has deployed multiple ‘worker pools’, giving requesters of computation the choice on which machines power their applications and services. The iExec Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) solution can now be run on the Alibaba Cloud trusted worker pool.

Specifically, on Alibaba cloud, iExec deployed a medical application that allows a hospital to ‘rent out’ their medical data to a neuro research center. The neuro research center uses the medical data to study brain activity and Alzheimer’s Disease.

The iExec TEE solution and Alibaba’s SGX-based instances are used so that the hospital can only ‘rent-out’ the private data without losing the ownership of these data.

All data used by the research center is securely protected within an Intel® SGX hardware enclave provided through iExec by Alibaba’s secure cloud machines, ensuring no third party is able to inspect or copy the medical data used (not even the research center).

The monetization of data sets, as demonstrated at the RSA conference, is one of the key features of iExec’s upcoming release, iExec V3: Enterprise Edition, allowing data to be securely ‘rented out’ without loss of privacy and ownership.

Also at RSA conference, iExec was invited as a VIP to the Intel RSAC reception. In addition, Google invited iExec to attend the Google Cloud Security sessions a VIP to discuss future opportunities.
